Breaking Barriers: Why I Wanted To Start My Training Business – Not Lost Anymore
Starting a business from scratch is not just about creating something new. It is not always easy to start off with something you have no clue where to start. Sometimes you need to get support and advice to be put in the right direction. Yes, everyone has their own ideas for their business and what you want to do but people do not realise the time and effort, the hours you put in before you start earning the money signs. We do not realise how much you need to put in before you start working from cash flows to business plans to funding applications to marketing to name a few.
It is sometimes about where you are in life at present. You need to start asking yourself questions to find out where you are in life before starting something as big as starting up a business. Are you in the right head space? Are you ready to start a business now or five years from now? It is also about healing old wounds before starting something new. It is sharing hard-earned wisdom and giving others what you once needed most.
My name is Leeanne Clark, and I am the founder and owner of my newly established training business with a vision: to support individuals who are often overlooked – people with learning disabilities, care-experienced backgrounds, those living with lifelong conditions, and survivors of abuse. People like me, people like us can achieve things that no one else has thought we could amount to something like what I have recently done. Built a business on my own with the right support and encouragement behind me.
From Lived Experience to Empowerment
What I do is deeply personal to me. I know what it is like to grow up in care because I have first-hand experience of care. I understand how trauma lingers, and how it shapes the way we learn, communicate and trust people in our lives. I know how powerful it is when someone sees your potential, but not your past. You have to walk in our shoes before you judge us.
For years, I have struggled with feeling misunderstood and underestimated from my birth family where I have had no voice to speak up about my own concerns. When I was going into care there were no traditional training environments or no support for me to understand why this was happening in the first place. So now, I want to create spaces that do work for people like us in all areas. My workshops and courses are designed to be accessible, safe and empowering, built with empathy at the heart of every session you undertake.
Why Does This Matter To Me?
Many of the people that I work with have been told they are no chance of them becoming who they want to be, too difficult, and too damaged, they are placed into categories that they do not belong in, or are different. I reject that entirely.
Everyone deserves the chance to learn, grow, develop and feel proud of what they have achieved. Whether it is building confidence, gaining new skills, or simply feeling heard for the first time – these are not small wins. There are life-changing moments.
Through my training and public speaking, I offer tools for both personal development and professional growth. But more importantly, I offer hope. Hope that healing is possible and that learning can be joyful. Your voice and understanding matter.
